After 4 hard track practices during the week, I was looking forward to the weekend. My legs were aching because I run long distance. Friday was a real killer. I had to run 10k and then I couldn't find a ride home.. I ended up walking for 45 minutes (almost home) when my girl-friend (not like that..) comes and picks me up. Isn't it ironic?
Well, anyways, I came home showered and went out. That was a big mistake :[. My legs could barely walk me through the mall. I saw a crappy crappy movie called Here on Earth and I was less than impressed, to say the least. Ever sat through a movie with 300 rambunctious teens much like yourself? Things get hectic, and we got kicked out halfway. Oh well, no big loss.
So I gave my dad a call and he drove me home along with my friend. Once I got home I put on my PJ's and fired up my 350 beast :]. Quickly I logged onto B.net and played some games. I played from 11:30 until 2:30.
The following day I awoke to the call of bluejays and other birds. I played outside the majority of the day and partied again at night, this time at a house. It was kind of crazy and the house got thoroughly trashed, but I was Mr. Nice Guy and helped clean up the next day. Anways, after the party, I came home and played SC.
My friend a5-m0n$ter called me over to channel "Clan -BaD." Without even asking they assumed I would BR their championship best of 3 game. Well, I felt like BR'ing but was kind of insulted they wouldn't even ask :P. The first two games were total shit, with Chargon Zerg owning Mystic Terr with a Guard rush and holding his exp with 5 sunkens. The second game Mystic Toss smoked Chargon Terr on Fading Realms.
The third and final game awaited...
 |
The final showdown on Showdown.. more irony :].
Chargon spawned Red Protoss in the northern position, while MysticDoom-)x(- (now referred to as Mystic) received Blue Terran in the southern position.
Both started off with builds where a rush has very little value because of the long travel distance. Chargon went for a Pylon, Gateway, Cybernetics Core, Assimilator, Gate build and Mystic went for a Hefty Metal build, going Depot (@Choke), Barracks (@Choke), Gas, Factory, Depot (@Choke, finishing wallin) and finally a second Factory.

The first action of the game was when Chargon sent a probe to try to harass the wokrer making the Barracks but he is quickly thwarted by a reinforcing SCV. The Probe is not killed however, and lingers just outside the Terran stronghold to alert Chargon of any incoming attacks.
At this point I hear the pleasing boom of a Terran structure blowing up. "Phoom!" I quickly click back to Mystic's base and see he cancelled his second Factory. I figured this was a wise move, as he started on a Starport. By doing this, he could set up Siege Tanks on the dozens and dozens of cliffs that littered the entire map. By doing this he could practically eliminate all Protoss ground threats!
Back at Chargon's side of the map I see he has 3 Dragoons and a Zealot. He sends 'em down to Mystic's base to deal some damage. Will they be successful?
Nah. The Zealot is fried by four enforcing Marines and the 3 Goons battering the Barracks are shut down by Mystic's first Siege Tank. They loiter outside the Terran base along with the Probe in a hope to deter any future attacks.
Back at home, Chargon has added a Robotics Facility and a Citadel of Adun. It looks like a DT drop, the Korean ladder standard for Toss (they even do it vs Zerg, those morons - trust me, I know from experience :]). Mystic now makes an E-Bay and sends it to the middle of the map for recon purposes. He also begins construction of his very first Dropship. A second Siege Tank rolls off the production lines.
Chargon confirms his Koreanization as he makes his Templar Archives and a Shuttle pops out of his Robotics Facility. He gets leggy Zealots around this time, and places two of his speedy Zeals on his cliff, in a prevention of a possibly game deciding turbo newbie.
Chargon also expands to the spot shown to the left. Mystic loads up 3 Marines, an SCV, and a Tank and ships 'em over to Chargon's cliff.
Will they do any damage? This is a potentially game deciding move, because if Mystic can set up a Tank there along with a reinforcing bunker and a few Turrets, Chargon will have no way of defending it, and Mystic would have a huge resource advantage. Will Chargon's 2 Zeals be enough to stop the Terran forces?
On their transit to Chargon's main, Mystic's Tank/Rines/SCV discover a freshly warped Nexus built by a Probe which was recently shuttled over. The Nexus is cancelled just seconds before it would have died.
The Terran forces land from the Dropship and the first 2 Marines down are brutally slashed to pieces. The SCV, 3rd Marine, and Tank hop back in the Dropship chop chop and land just below the cliff. One exceptional Siege blast is fired and it kills 7 Probes!! Mystic also attempts to set up a Bunker at his attack but 2 freshly warped in Zealots deal with the Terran forces.
Mystic now builds a Command Centre to float to the nearby island but a Shuttle that recently departed from Chargon's main spots it and unloads its cargo of 2 Zealots and one Dark Templar. The CC drops to yellow before he lifts it off (luckily Chargon forgot to get the Flying Zealot upgrade).
Mystic also sends in his first major attack consisting of about 8 Tanks and 15 Vultures. How do they do? Check the next pic ;-<.
How about a minimap update? That sounds good to me!

All right, so that was thwarted quite easily by Chargon's 6 Gate Zeal/Temp macro as you can see here..

The troops on the ground are easily dealt with but Mystic is finally getting smart and placing some of his troops on the cliffs to deter the Protoss forces. It's a damn good plan, too, and is very effective.
Mystic's main is getting pretty low on minerals and his floating CC just returned from his island and is getting a repair job. Mystic tries multiple times to destroy the forces preventing his island expansion but is never successful.
Mystic now sends an SCV and about 15 vultures and 2 Tanks to an expansion to make a Command Centre, as showed on the left. Chargon also expands to the spot shown on the right. Mystic quickly transfers about 30 SCV's to his expansion as soon as the CC finishes and produces a massive, well placed mine field there.
Mystic launches another offensive on Chargon's main but alas, it is beaten down again by Speedy Zealots. Templar Production at Chargon's main has increased but constant Vulture raids kill Zealots and Temps with shots and clever use of mines.
Chargon, with his large material advantage, knows that only Tanks on cliffs and large minefields are stopping his from charging into the Terran main. So he gets some more Shuttles and adds an Observatory. Mystic's attacks are becoming more frequent with his 5 Factory macro (he just added a 5th at his expansion) and expansion running well. Here is a battle I found particularly amusing.

Mystic is once again turning the game in his favor. Even with a material advantage, Chargon is having a rough time dealing with the constant Vulture raids and occasional Tank cliffings. Chargon deals with the Tanks on cliffs with 2-4 dropped Zealots, but the Tanks always prove their value and kill lots of things before they go down.
Chargon finally has some obs cruising around the map (took him long enough :P) and with the help of a few Goons easily disable the mine fields. If Mystic would just reinforce his mine fields with Tanks behind them he would do some serious damage! But alas, he is trying so hard on macro he has no time to.
Then this happens!

Mystic continues his Tank production and finally builds an Academy for scanner recon, and possibly Firebats to toast some Zeals. (Author's Note: The game is so insanely back and forth by now I have very few notes to go by anymore.. plz tell me if you notice a downfall in quality :P)
Chargon also notices (or maybe just finally reacts) to his lost troops at the Terran island. He shuttles over 4 Goons and shuts it down (again). Chargon also discovers that his Zeal/Temp is really being shut down by exceptionally well executed Terran sieges (I thought they were so well done, but the other obs though they sucked - like they could do much better :P)
Mystic's island exp (remember, 4 Goons just chased it away) CC is returning to the mainland.. but Mystic is so busy elsewhere is burns down :[. He floats it to the middle of the map to join his E-Bay and brings an SCV and a plethora of Mech to try and take the middle!
But it doesn't last long.

From here on it's all downhill. Mystic's center expansion dies swiftly to Goon/Zeal/Temp and his mineral only expansion (which was drying up btw) falls quickly after. Mystic leaves right after his mineral expansion dies and the (&#*&^# Use Map Settings Obs Map says I failed to achieve victory! Well, I want a rematch, I'll show that damn sign who's boss ;].
There wasn't anything really unique about Chargon's final attack. The coolest thing though was when a Vulture shot at an already dead Zealot creating this picture. Not only was that cool, but when I added the Glowing Edges effect to it it makes it look like some little orcish beast!

Actually, this was kinda cool, too.
![This is nifty too :]](http://www.geocities.com/mogalin1/br/takeback.gif)
Final Scores!

Strategic Lessons Learned
- Mystic could have easily dominated this game. A larger turbo newb, earlier ComSat, more Tanks on ridges would have easily bought him time to expand more and prevent Chargon from expanding. Mystic never found out about Chargon mining his mineral only natural and was never able to neutralize it.
- Considering there was very little lag, I know Terran can be a bitch to micro (setting up Siege cliffs, macroing while microing, etc.) but you just gotta!! Several Turret/2Tank/Bunker setups dotting the line to Terran's base would have greatly deterred Chargon and encouraged him to go Carriers in which case you should already be suspecting, or knowing through the use of comsat.
- Storm owns.
