Versus
TF-Massacre
Introduction :
Before
telling you the whole story of this great part of the starcraft adventure
that has been this matchup between those two great players (am i going to
far??^^), I'd like to present myself in a few words, and tell you some important
clues you should know before reading the report.
First of all, as you might have noticed (don't be so narrow-minded), I'm not
english, and worse of all, I'm french!! And as you all must know, only a few
french guys can speek fluently english. I'm one of those :). But I have to
admit that I often make bad mistakes, so don't be too tough with my english...
Secondly,
I watched lots of game those days (watching games is just my whole life...)
and lots where interesting, or great, but this one had something special that
made it to be THE BEST GAME EVER PLAYED BY TWO STARCRAFT PLAYERS! (I know
games cannot be played by turtles, but some battlereports.com readers are
just so dumb!! oups hurted you?). Before I watched the game, I already knew
it was going to be a great one, and this is why :
-Both players are good, both have a really good micro and I really like skev
for what he is (I mean I just don't know him but I wanted to tell this :þ)
-Toss vs zerg games are really great when zerg is not owning all the game...
-The game was in fact a rematch. The first game was a random vs random which
turned into a toss vs zerg (Massacre was zerg) and skevihue made the mistake
to take his only minerals way too early, so the zerg who had stayed on his
natural and produced as much hydra glings as he could just overwhelmed him.
The match wasn't worth to be reported.
Lastly,
I must admit this introduction was a little too long, so let's begin the real
fun, and enter in the epic story of alien's fighting for survival :
Part 1, also know as "How could he hold
this shit!"
The
players choose lost temple to be the theatre of there slaughter, and as
Skev (understand =[aBs]=SkeViHuE) wanted to
prove his great toss vs zerg playing, he asked his opponent to pick zergs,
and elected the protoss army to be his own fighters.
Skev popped out at 9 o'clock, while Massacre
morphed in at 12.
Both
player wanted to change they're build orders from the first game ; Massacre
who had expanded with his first hatch on last game now chose to execute
the well-known 2 hatch hydras rush, while Skev tryed
something quite wieird against a zerg opponent : he went straight for reaver
drop, with only one gate and a few units!
Massacre took his gaz quite early, so did Skev.
After a few reckonning time, the first move was made by Skev
who moved his first goon to kill a brave scouting overlord. This slowed
Massacre down, but not enough to prevent him
from attacking with his hydras before letting Skev
getting his mighty reaver. At this moment, Skev
only had two zealots and three goons waiting up his ramp, a robotics facility
and he had began the dragoon's range upgrade. Massacre
had both hydra's upgrade, zergling metabolic boost, 6 hydras and about 10
zerglings.
The battle was turning to Massacre's adavantage,
when Skev decided to whisdraw his last three
dragoons, choosing to loose his ramp and use his probes to defend against
the rusher. He also began to warp in two more gates (to increase his account
to three) while the zerg began morphing a third hatchery at his natural.
The probes helped quite a lot, and Skev finally
managed to recover his choke, after loosing a few probes and his robotics
facility. Then if you know a little about starcraft and about Massacre,
you could ask this smart question :"How could Skev
now hold the non stopping hydras coming from Massacre's
base, with only dragoons!". And I would answer you, "I think you
forgot something : Skev had launched the dragoon's
range upgrade, which was now over, so he only used this advantage to hold
his choke, without being even hit by the hydras." Those hydras went
back home, feeling safe enough after this effective rush to hold any attempt
of attacking from their opponent...
Part 2 : some say you're good, but to win
here, you have to be the best^^
Then
Massacre made one another interressant move,
he morphed his hatchery to lair, and began the lurkers upgrade, which was
clever as he had just broken down Skev's robotics
facility (so he can't have any obs for a while...). He also had developped
his natural, which was now running efficiently.
As you can imagine, Skev started rebuilding
too during this time, he switched his strategy to an all goons/zealots/templars
strat, and began developping his natural, while holding it with his remaining
goons, and a few zealots...He increased his amount of gateways to 5, and
it seemed to me at this point that he had greatly redevelopped, and he had
his chances again (as I must admit I really thought he was dead like three
times during the first part!).
That's the moment when Massacre decided to
end over the game, and morphed 10 hydras to lurkers! At this point, Skev
already had warped two forges for double upgrading his units, he had templars,
but he didn't have any turret or obs...When Massacre
first lurkers, hydras and zerglings arrived to Skev's
base, I stopped breathing for a while, just in time to discover Skev's
secret : he is the best stormer ever! He made a wall with his units, not
to allow the lurkers to run to his probes line, and killed like 3 lurkers,
6 hydras and a few glings with one storm! Massacre
wisely decided to place his lurkers in a round just outside Skev's
base, and didn't try to enter it for the moment...So he choosed to take
the advantage he deserved from this situation, and began morphing two more
hatcheries at his two "only mineral expansions". He also morphed
three evoluting chamber in his main, to begin triple upgrading, and started
again his lovely little hydras glings strat. Skev
placed a turret at his choke, and when he realized he had no more minerals
at his main, he understood his only way to survive was to make an all and
out assault, what he could only do with some observers. So he started building
a robotic facility, and then an observatory. As soon as his first observer
finished training, he broke the lurker's wall, here is what both player
had : Skev had like 5 templars full of magic
power, 15 zealots, 1 1 and speed upgraded, and 7 goons, range and 1 1 upgraded
; while Massacre had 12 hydras, 6 lurkers and
20 or more glings, with nothing yet upgraded. The battle was great, as each
time Skev's templar would try to let their
powerful storms be invocated, Massacre would
spread and move his hydras for not being touched by those deadly scratches!
But Skev had just played better, so the battle
turned to his advantage, but not without loosing all his zealots to glings,
hydras and psi storms! At the end he had 7 dragoons, and 5 templars, which
was enough to run into Massacre expands, and
soon the help of reinforcement was enough to destroy all zergs buildings
and get ridd of that fucking creep, but not without a "gg" both
player exchanged with honour.
What I've learned :
-To
keep fit, just train!
-Potatoes ownz strawberries.
-Toss can really be the most powerful race, when well controlled and having
an expansion.
-Imbalance is fucking bullshit, all the more on lost temple.
-Never be to sure of your self, never take too much expands when you're
not sure you can hold them!
-watching is a way of life, not only a fun thing to do with friends :þ
-watching girls can be cool to....and acting's sometimes not so bad....
A little more, I'm so kind... :
Thanx
all for reading this report, I hope you enjoyed it, I'll try to improve
my self since I don't think it's the best I can do :(. Thanx to battlereports.com
for they are the only site I can visit 800 times a day, without being bored.
(what are you talking about?? you don't visit it more then one time a week!
^^)
Thanx to the players, for letting me report this game, no thanx to maynard,
for not letting me reports his games :þ.
As you all have been great during this report, I will give you some examples
of what we talked about during the game, no comments :
