I just found this site 20 minutes ago. Didn’t plan for a BR
This is my first battle report so give me a little credit. That being said here goes…
My sister is an excellent conventional Orc player. When I say conventional I mean the type that fits the Orc stereotype: Big lusted rush. And some more. And some more. And some more…
I on the other hand prefer humans and surprises.
So…We played a BNE map called Island something or other…four corner islands, four expansion islands on each edge of the map, and a huge island in the middle with 450,000 gold and about 70000 lumber. Everything was map default. We commenced the battle. I spawned on the lower right island while she was in the upper left.
Now: my sister’s main weakness is that she doesn’t do much expanding without having lots of escort defense first. So my early strategy was to rape the trees and the mines everywhere. Right off I built a farm while my other peasants worked on the 60000 gold mine. I then concentrated solely on getting a huge resource operation with 50+ peasants while I built my way to sea power and a castle for max gold. I lined my shores with ships and flying machines while I sent a scout up to check out her base.
While I was almost done with all the resources on my island, she was only a fourth of the way through them. However, she had an army of about 20-30 Level 8 Ogre-Magi and was building her first shipyard. I knew I would be dead if she landed with that force, so I decided to move to the huge island and keep her away from it. I had just rendered my homeland barren, so I loaded my 80 peasants onto the big island. I built 8 halls, and worked on the resources while building more peasants. In 10 minutes I had over 375000 gold and 50000 lumber, and about 70000 oil which I didn’t need. Time to kill.
A quick look at her base showed that she had swelled to over 80 ogres, however, my scouts, destroyers, and battleships prevented her from launching an invasion. She had taken over an expansion island, but it was not as good as mine.
I decided that the only safe way to destroy those ogres would be mages and demo squads. I built about 30 demo squads and loaded them into transports while my mage army loaded up their mana. Meanwhile, my navy was blocking her from entering a section of her island that jutted out- essentially, a pier. The demo squads and mages landed, a few at a time, and went into her forest, which she didn’t seem to recon at all. Her mistake.
My 30 squads emerged from the forest and destroyed the smith, lumber yard, church, stables, two barracks, and about 20 ogres, and killed pretty much all her peons. She got really mad though, and charged the forest. Fortunately, I was ready, and any of the 60+ ogres that survived the barrier of triple blizzard were incinerated by a fireball. That being done, my mages destroyed her original base.
All that remained was the expansion, but I simply repeated the process, except I only had to deal with about 15 ogres, as most of them were trained at the main island.
Victory! With ½ the units, and not even 1/8 the brute strength, I destroyed the Horde.
So, all you Orc players out there. Remember that if you plan on invading, make sure you spend enough money to drive the enemy ships away. Otherwise it’s too fun for people like me ;)
