Me vs. Cyborg - The Battle of Idiocy! Hosted by battlereports.com

Hello, people, and welcome to my first battlereport. This is about a game I played with Cyborg, a friend of mine, a while back. He is Korean, and therefore 1337. But that's not the only reason why I lost. Find out in this (not) exciting battlereport! First things first: I was chosen Terran, he randomed Zerg. We played on Medieval Starcraft, which is a 1v1 map I made where I renamed all the units (that explains the weird names). Without further ado, the actual report!

I went for a build order of Barracks on 8, then Depot on 9 and Refinery on 10. Cyborg just went for mainly Drones, then eventually a Spawning Pool roughly around the time my Depot went up (I didn't count his drones. Not even in the replay. So sue me.) We both scouted about the same time, and our scouts met in the center of the map.

They nodded to each other in greeting, then went their separate ways; I sent mine back to base, satisfied at knowing my opponent's race... a dumb move (but that wasn't my major mistake), while Cyborg sent his in the general northeast direction. THAT was my major mistake. I didn't bother to follow his Drone, and thus I never knew he would start an expansion (my strategy was containment). As you all know, containment is less effective when they get an expansion without you knowing about it.

Anyway... I rushed for a Bunker while he sent out another Drone to scout. It was killed rather quickly by my full Bunker.

And here's a purdy shot of Cyborg's expansion in progress...

About this time, I had my Comsat done and threw a Sensor Sweep. I saw mainly defense. All the more better for a containment strategy.

I sent out a force of MMF to contain him (the only way in or out of his base was through a narrow valley). Huh? I'm short 4 guys? How can that be?

Oh. 4 Marines are stuck behind a tree. Lazy slackers!

Anyway, once everyone is regrouped (no thanks to the lazy tree loving Marines), I get my containment in order. Whee.

At the expansion I didn't know about, Cyborg was sneaking some Hydralisks.

He then sent them to relieve the containment from his base.

I was surprised to see Hydralisks coming from the back (you see, I didn't know about his seekrit expansion), but thought nothing of it. Another mistake. Anyway, I sent my defense army that I had at home (THE BIGGEST MISTAKE OF THIS GAME) to relieve my existing containment force, trapping the Hydralisks in the canyon in a pincer attack. This pic only has 1 Hydralisk because I wasn't quick with the Print Screen button.

Stupidly, I didn't rebuild my defense army, and instead kept all my forces at his canyon. Cyborg attempted to break out of his main and failed.

I thought I was doing well. Brian's second set of hydras (he had expanded twice from the seekrit expansion I STILL didn't know about) thought otherwise.

The March of the Hydralisks was on me! I frantically tried to put up a quick defense (my containment force wouldn't arrive in time), to no avail.

My expansions fell, and I put up my last defenses at my main.

Long story short, everything of mine got destroyed (even my containment force, sorry about the lack of pics) except one blazing CC. We gave each other vision, and after a bit of talk, he infested my CC and won.

In summary, this was a nice game, with lots of surprises and stupidity (on my part). I would put the stats up, but no one bothers to read them. Also, I made this report from a replay, but, in an ultimate act of irony, I won't give you the replay, so ha. Until next time, see you in hel... I mean cour... I mean see you later!

This has been a

production!
