Styke:so, what r we supposed to do in this ums?
Gorman:we have to find the bug dudes and kill em. then we gotta find a beacon and after we step on it, we win
Styke:k, rdy

Like all male teenagers, Styke was addicted to computer games, especially the one called Starcraft. The game was all strategy, with a bit of twists and turns in the game. Styke had every other opportunity when he wasn't doing his work to play computer games. He was an addict. He stayed up until two in the morning having fun killing random newbies and people who liked use map settings games.

Styke was on one night after a long day of school. He wasn't even worried about his homework. He had joined up in a random game was now on his way to victory.

Styke did what the creator told him to do and decided to kill a few bugs before finding the beacon. Styke was having the time of his life right now as he slaughtered bug after bug with his Gauss Rifle. He wasn't even listening to the creator now and was slaughtering bug after bug. He had a total of one hundred kills before the creator had even fifty. The creator got fed up and stopped chatting. Too bad Styke wasn't even listening.

Styke beamed with pride as he found the beacon. He told the creator to hurry up and his DT came limping in. They both stepped onto the beacon together saying, "good game".

As soon as Styke's marine landed on the beacon, the computer screen seemed to glow bigger. Styke didn't seem to notice a thing because he was intent on playing another game of starcraft after he won this one. The computer screen glowed brighter and brighter by the second. Styke finally noticed and decided to fiddle around with the computer's controls. Nothing worked. The creator was still chatting, saying stuff like, "how come we're not winning yet?" "how come the victory screen ain't coming up?". Styke didn't know what was going on until the screen became so bright he had to shield his eyes. A second later he felt himself leave his seat and he felt himself being sucked into a vortex pool. He knew no more.

-------------------------

When Styke came to, he was lying in the middle of a canyon. The ground was dry, dusty and bare and no plants seemed to grow. After a few minutes, his strength returned to him and he got up slowly.

"Holy crap," he muttered, shaking his head. "Where the hell am I?" He took a good look around. The sun still shone bright and clear, even when it was night time when he had been playing the game. The game! He suddenly remembered.

As soon as he felt himself being sucked into a vortex point, his marine and disappeared from the screen. So had the creator. As he took a step back, he bumped into something heavy. Turning around, Styke saw something he had never seen before in his life. He rubbed his eyes and still he looked dazed. He had just bumped into an Impaler Gauss Rifle. Then he looked at himself and saw himself in a tight suit. No wonder he felt so heavy and drained of strength.

He picked up the rifle, it seemed to rest gently in his hands. It seemed so light in his hands, even as he struggled to try and hold it in a position to shoot something. Suddenly he noticed something dark on the horizon. He eyed carefully before thinking wisely to find somewhere where he would not be seen. Seeing a lush green of trees, he struggled to run there, but seemingly tripped over his rifle. Forgetting about it, he took at a fast pace and hid himself behind a tree, but so he could see what was coming.

Humans. Many of them were crossing the canyon. How many he could not count, because their numbers were many. He noticed the tags on their shoulders: An eagle. They halted very close to where Styke was hiding.

"Sergeant!" a marine yelled. "C'mere, I found something!"

Dammit, thought Styke, I shouldv'e hidden that damn rifle.

"Seems to be a gauss rifle, serg... Wait! The guy's name is engraved here! S-T-Y-K-E."

The sergeant stopped bickering and looked confused. "Styke? That recon marine that got lost a week or so ago? Is he still around here?"

Another marine spoke up, "He could be dead, sergeant!"

The sergeant looked at the rifle carefully. "You may be right Gorman, but I wouldn't be too sure."

Gorman fell silent. "Wait," he said to himself. "I've seen that name somewhere before."

"What's that, private?" asked the sergeant, strictly.

Gorman gulped in some air and said, "I said, sir, that I think I've seen that name somewhere before."

"Where?" said the sergeant.

This is stupid, thought Gorman, the sergeant wouldn't believe me if I said that I saw some stupid kid's name on starcraft battle-net. Heck, he wouldn't even know what battle-net is. I got to think something up fast.

"Erm," began Gorman, "I'm not too sure, sir, but I think..." Gordan paused.

The sergeant grew impatient. "Well, son?"

"In... those trees! Yah, that's where I think I saw it."

"If you're wrong private, you've just wasted my time, and you know what that means..." The sergeant walked towards the thin line of trees. He quickly pushed open the branches and saw a figure lying there in the darkness. "Styke?" The figure looked up. The sergeant quickly grabbed Styke and pulled him out of the trees.

"What the hell are you doing in here?" the sergeant yelled furiously. "You were supposed to be in Recon Force numero 3. Then they sent you to scout for supplies and you never returned. And as usual, they gave you up for dead, or worse, thrown into the swarm's will."

Styke was confused. So was Gordon. He hadn't really known there was figure in the trees, he just wanted to save his neck, which he did, successfully. Gordon finally realized it. They had both been sucked into the same beacon.

Styke hadn't the faintest idea what in the world was going on. "Um... but I just came through a beacon while I was playing a computer game, man."

"How dare you address the sergeant like that?" the sergeant yelled furiously.

"Sorry, sir. Well, you see sir, I came in through a beacon while I was playing computer games. I never really belong to this world. I came from the past, the year 2002 to be exact."

"What are you crazy?" the sergeant yelled furiously. "You've always belonged here. What do you mean you came through a computer game. The kids are all in the armies now fighting the swarms of Char. And guess what, buddy? It's the year 2345, not 2002. What did you get hit with over the head? Your own gauss rifle? How the hell do you think I was made sergeant, I was trained for the tough, I was trained for the rough. Aye, you kiddies will never learn. I have no time for this, we must get moving, we should've been at the next encampment by now. Move!"

Confused, Styke grabbed his gauss and began walking in with the others. Gordon was in the ranks just metres away.

-------------------------------------

As they reached the encampment, Styke saw the most horrible things he had ever seen. Buidlings were burning down and people were starving on the streets, if you could call them that.

The sergeant quickly game orders. "Medics, quick, tend to those poor people and you space construction vehicles, quickly, repair the buildings. I want you marines," he said, pointing at Styke, Gordon and two others, "to enter that bunker over there. You," he said pointing to another, "get out scouting, but make sure to get back here alive."

Styke entered the bunker with the others. He sat at a combat post and eyed the horizon ever carefully. Gordon had been eying him for awhile, and he tried to avoid Gordon's gaze.

"So," said Gordon finally, with a sly smile on his face. "You got here through a beacon? That's strange."

"No more stranger than you with that god dam silly grin on your face," replied Styke quietly.

"Hoho, trying to be funny are we? I'm Gorman, a marine in the 56th squadron. Like you, I got here through a beacon as well."

The other two marines inside the bunker were looking at them like they were mad.

Styke didn't know what to say. "You must be that use map settings dude."

Gordon nodded.

"Hey you two!" one of the other marines said. "The name's Sam, the other there," he pointed, "is Jake. Welcome to the squad, new recruits."

They sat quietly for a few minutes, until suddenly, a voice buzzed into their speakers. "The zerg are headed your way, I'm sendin' in reinforcements, just hold tight."

"Shit," muttered Styke. They quickly faced the horizon where they saw many zergs coming towards them. Instinctively, Styke knew exactly when the zerg were in range and began firing upon their thick hides. Two zerglings fell right where they were. But more were headed their way. Gordon quickly shot down the weaker ones while Styke was frantically trying to kill a gnarly hydralisk that didn't seem to even be on the verge of death.

Out of the corner of his eye, Styke saw the back-up force charging in. The zerglings died unbelievably fast and as Styke shot his gauss rifle at another oncoming hydralisk, he yelled out gleefully, "Haha, this is exactly like playing computer games, 'cept now your the one that's in it."

Gordon smiled killing another zerg. The back-up team did a good job of taking out the zerg and in the end there were only a few casualties on our side. The zerg had suffered the most.

Gordon smiled again and said, "That was friggin' fun."

Styke stepped out of the bunker kicking away dead zerg corpses. He put his gauss rifle on the ground and leaned on it. First battle fought and won. How many more would he have to fight in?

So there's the first part. It might be good, I don't know. Just comment on it please.
