Welcome. This is my first battlereport with the name of Der Fuhrer, since I have retired CbK_Chris666 due to lack of success with that title. The last report I wrote was about Axis and Allies, a PC board game that no one really knows about but deserves to be extremely popular. My mission is to make more and more people become aware of this great game and give it the respect that it deserves. I’m positive that Battlereports.com will help me accomplish this. Thanks to the comments and advice of several willing readers, I have made some changes to the report. First and foremost, I have posted a picture of the map of Axis and Allies so you can see what the hell is going on and know what region of the world I am talking about. The game that I have written about in this report is a match up between me and my friend David, whom you already know, except that we have reversed roles-I am playing as the Axis and David is playing as the Allies. I apologize for the lack of pictures of the battle scenes because I can’t find my digital camera that my mom somehow lost. Here is a map of what territories each power started off with (If you don’t understand the basics of the game go to my last report to read up on it).

THE START OFF

The game started off with David taking command of Russia. His first move of the game was to attack Finland and Norway with three infantry (1 Attack, 2 Defense), three tanks (3 Attack, 2 Defense), and two fighters (3 Attack, 4 Defense), most likely to secure a staging area for British and American offensive operations. The Red forces moved in against my three infantry, one tank, and one fighter, and the outcome was inevitable. With the loss of all his infantry and two tanks, David secured the country, and it boosted his IPC production from 24 to 26. For his noncombative move David landed his two fighters in Karelia and moved two infantry from Russia into Karelia. He also strengthened Far East Russia with two infantry, boosting the forces there to four infantry and one tank. The turn ended with David placing the eight infantry he had bought at the beginning of the turn in Karelia.

Next it was my turn with Germany. I bought 10 infantry at the beginning of the turn and quickly decided my battle plan. I attacked the Russian controlled Ukraine with 3 infantry, 3 tanks, and two fighters. David had a terrible role during that battle and I didn’t lose a single attacker. Next I sent a bomber to attack a British transport off the coast of East Canada (3 IPCs), I dropped off three infantry and one tank in Anglo Egypt Sudan (2 IPCs), and sent three fighters, two submarines and a transport around the British isles. My bomber destroyed the transport by East Canada, the attack on Anglo Egypt Sudan succeeded with the loss of all but one infantry, and the attack around the British isles destroyed the English Battleship and transport, and the Russia submarine and transport stationed around there with the loss of both submarines and the transport. To end the turn, I landed two fighters in East Europe, three in Germany, and I moved the four infantry from Germany into East Europe. The turn ended and I gained 36 IPCs (whoop whoop).

Next came Britain. David bought two transports and three infantry, and decided to move his battleship stationed below France back into English waters. Then he sent his bomber and two fighters from the UK and landed them in Karelia to strengthen the defenses there. Me moved his single infantry from South Africa northward into Kenya-Rhodesia to prepare for a counterattack against Anglo-Egypt Sudan, and landed the fighter from India to support. His turn ended and he placed his units in the UK. He gained 28 IPCs.

The next turn was my turn with Japan. I decided from the start that I had to conquer Russia and relieve the pressure on Germany as quickly as possible. To start off I bought a factory, and three infantry. To start my attack, I sent four infantry and one fighter into India, three infantry, two fighters, and a bomber into China, and I moved my carrier, my two battleships, my submarine, and one of my transports around Japan. The attacks against both enemies were successful. Britain suffered bad luck and lost India and the two infantry guarding it without inflicting any casualties on the enemy. I was less fortunate in China where I lost all my infantry before I was able to kill off the American defenders. I retreated my air units into Manchuria, and the territory was left unconquered, but I was sure to take it next turn. I pressed the DONE button and I placed my factory in Manchuria, landed my fighter from India into French Indochina, and placed my three infantry I had bought on mainland Japan. I ended my turn with 27 IPCs.

To finish the round the U.S.A came up. David decided to buy a factory and five infantry, and I wondered what he was going to do with it. To start off, he sent his transport from the East Coast (Loaded with two infantry) and landed it into Algeria, which he took with a fight. Next he sent his Pacific fleet (A carrier, battleship, sub, transport, and fighter) through the Panama canal and prepared to reinforce the beleaguered Russians in Europe. For his non combative move he landed his two fighters and bomber on the UK. At the end of the turn he placed his industry in Sinkiang and his five infantry on the West coast. Then he clicked the DONE button and received 37 IPCs (ouch!).

The next round saw Russia suffering a nearly disastrous defeat. David amassed his 10 infantry units and two fighters from Karelia and struck into the Ukraine. Facing him were three infantry and three tanks. His first dice role didn’t get obtain A SINGLE hit, and my counterattack knocked out three of his infantry. He willed himself to stay and attacked again. This time he got one kill, and he slammed the computer table in anger. My counterattack took out two more infantry. He said,” Screw this, and pulled his attackers out and landed them in Karelia. He placed his eight infantry that he bought (again) in Karelia and landed his two fighters in the Caucus. He ended the turn with 23 IPCs.

It was my turn with Germany again. This time I decided to attack Karelia with four fighters, four tanks, and seven infantry. The attack was successful, but in the process I lost all but three tanks. I decided to forget about Africa for the time being and moved my 10 infantry men from Germany into East Europe. I ended the turn by placing the twelve infantry I had bought on Germany. I gained 39 IPCs.

This time around Britain decided to really get into gear. Using his two transports, he landed four infantry into Western Europe (6 IPCs), which at the time was being guarded by two infantry. David’s battleship bombarded the coast and destroyed one of my infantry, leaving one-four vs. one were horrible odds. At the first dice role none of his infantry were successful in getting a hit, but the same was true for me. The inevitable happened during the next role when David’s third infantryman scored a hit that killed my single brave defender. On the bright side my infantryman took down one British man with him. David also attacked Anglo-Egypt Sudan with two infantry and a fighter, and my infantryman there succumbed during the first dice role. David ended his turn and placed the transport and six infantry that he had bought on and around the UK.

Now it was Japan’s turn again. I decided to load my single transport on the Sea of Japan with two infantry and landed them in Far East Asia (2 IPCs). To support my attack I sent my three fighters, two infantry, and one bomber from Manchuria, and maneuvered my battleships so they could bombard the coast. The battle was short, and I lost two infantry but took the territory. Next I attacked Sinkiang and with my four infantry and one fighter from India, and I took the territory along with the industry that David had earlier placed there. I ended my turn by placing another industrial complex in India and putting three infantry on Manchuria.

The last country for this round was the United States. David decided to send his fleet stationed around Panama to the American East Coast, and attacked the undefended Libya with his two infantry from Algeria. David was successful, and I moved his five infantry he had put on the West Coast to the East. He placed the four transports he had bought and two infantry on the East Coast.

THE END

Now, to continue in this manner would take me forever to conclude this report, so let me summarize what followed. Russia had absolutely no means with which to counterattack into Karelia and ended up placing six infantry into Russia and hoping to get a chance next turn. The attack on the West Coast by the British was short lived, ten infantry from Germany sweeping them away. The game was drawing toward a conclusion. Japan began to make rapid gains in the East, conquering all the countries in Asia except Russia itself. The next few turns passed with Japan massing its forces to attack Russia with Germany doing likewise from Karelia. The first country to strike Russia was Japan, and the 30 Infantry, 10 tanks, and five fighters were successful in conquering it and taking Russia out of the game permanently. Britain made several more vain attacks against Europe but failed miserably each time. The Allied defeat was hastened because David didn’t really do ANYTHING with the United States except laze around in Africa. David realized it was over and decided to resign to my victorious army.

Before I conclude this report, let us review some of the mistakes David made. One of the biggest blunders David made was with the United States during the first round. His decision to but an industry in Sinkiang to try and counterattack into Asia was a wasted effort, and it only boosted my production and hastened the fall of Russia when I easily conquered the territory during the second round. Secondly, David did not place any infantry with which to counterattack with in Russia. If he had done so in the first round, he most likely would have been able to counterattack successfully into Karelia during the third round in which I had stationed only two tanks. Instead he could do nothing, and he watched helplessly as the constant attacks from Germany in the West and Japan in the East wore down his defenses in Russia. To finish off I would like to say that this was a great game, and each time I play David I learn a little more and get a little better. For example, I would never have thought of putting and industry in Asia (When, if done right, can change the course of the game). Below is a picture of myself in my BDUs for JROTC (Its kind of a crappy picture, don’t even think about laughing)
