BR #2
Introduction
Whattup guys. Welcome to my second report. Yeah its been a while since I last posted. I'm just getting real bored this summer so I guess I'll throw out a BR or two :). This year has been pretty cool though. I got a couple of girlfriends, won a few contests, graduated from middle school (keep in mind that I'm only 14 :0). Anyways, I decided to stick with SC cuz I think WW3 is just gay right now. I really didn't feel like playing too much, so I looked up some of those internet replays. After a tedious search, I finally found a few mediocre ones that all involved this clan, simply called [ 69]. They seemed pretty good so I guess that's what I'm BRing. The games are pretty short d00d so don't expect any arbiter rushes or dark swarm cover that saves an entire legion of ultralisk. Yea, so the games were pretty n00b...again...but n00bs are people I understand and can relate to. You know why? Cuz I'm one myself! hahaha. But for real, it's just a bit easier for me, you know what I'm sayin? I'm aiming high, but not that high :). Anyway, I'm gonna calm down with all those special effects just a litte bit and let the BR take on more of an informative, tactical role. I guess I'm just following what Zerg~Ling told me last time "...less really IS more." Enjoy (And no, I'm not favoring that clan cuz of their name hehe).

Game 1 Map: Lost Temple
The first game is a classic clan vs clan. Here, the (69)'s are facing off with the (SR) clan. We have Apoc(69) - Zerg - 9 o'clock and Opium(69) - Protoss - 6 o'clock vs (SR )Hurricane - Zerg - 12 o'clock and (SR)Maverick - Zerg - 3 o'clock. A fair game of vs2 on Lost Temple seems to be a great oppertunity to put the skill of the clans in prespective, and is a long-time favorite of nearly all BW players.

Game 1

The game begins. Apoc scouts 12 o'clock and works on an early expansion, and therefore, doesn't sculpt an army as rapid as the others. Hurricane scouts 9 o'clock and quickly conjures a spawning pool. Maverick scouts 6 o'clock and constructs a second hatchery. Both Hurricane and Maverick soon begin to spawn several zerglings. Opium goes for the dual gateway trick and begins to amass zealots.

Player Build Order
Apoc(69) Hatchery(N Exp), Hatchery(cliff), Pool, Extractor, Extractor( Exp), Sunken Colonies(cliff), Lair, Spire, Hatchery, Nest, Hive, Gtr Spire
Opium(69) Gateway, Gateway, Cybernetics, Citadel, Temp Arch, Gateway, Gateway, Nexus(E Exp), Forge, Cannons, Gateway
(SR)Hurricane Hatchery(entrance), Pool, Extractor, Sunken Colonies( entrance), Hatchery(W Exp), Lair, Extract(W Exp), Chamber, Spores
(SR)Maverick Hatchery, Pool, Hatchery(cliff), Sunken Colonies(entrance), Den, Hatchery(S Exp)

Just after the five minute mark, the first conflict breaks out. Opium has stationed his army of 10 zealots right outside of his potential eastern expansion. Maverick and Hurricane have built up a large zergling army (33 combined) of their own. They regroup the beasts in the middle and then charge southward, directly into the zealots. As soon as the zealots spot the formidable zergling army, they retreat atop the entrance of their base and create a human wall. This strategy prooved to be very effective against the zerglings as they were stopped in their tracks. Meanwhile, Apoc has sent a group of 8 zerglings behind the backs of Hurricane and Maverick. Soon, Apoc has caught up and Maverick and Hurricane are stuck facing a two front war. Eventually, Apoc's group is defeated, but not without causing enough damage to render his ally, Opium, victorious.

Does This Look Familiar?

Almost immediately after the initial attack on Opium, Maverick and Hurricane have gathered up a whole new, equally powerful army consisting of 33 zerglings. Opium only had fifteen seconds to recooperate before another horde of nasty critters was breathing down his neck. Fortunately, he had built up another group of zealots just in time to defend the base.

Once again, Opium uses the wall strategy. He lures the blood-thirsty zerglings to the ramp and begins to line up his zealots, although this time he fillets a few lings before he sets up the strategy. However, a few zerglings breach the wall, most likely due to the absence of Apoc's assistance. The zerglings stampede into the harvesting probes but are chased closely by Opium's zealots. The probes begin to fall, but not without a stand. With the help of the zealots, the zerglings are quickly vanquished and peace reigns once again.

same

strat :/

After the second battle, the players are slighty more conservative for a while. Apoc begins to tech, constructing a Spire and Hive. He begins to mass Mutalisk for a flyer army. Opium recovers from the two blows on his base and also begins to advance, building a Citadel and a Templar Archives. He then trains many zealots and a few archons. Meanwhile, the (SR)'s are also developing their armies as well. Hurricane concentrates on amassing as many hydralisk and zerglings as possible and starts an expansion to the east. Maverick focuses on hydralisks and starts a mini base at the southern expansion.

One minute later, Apoc's 10 mutalisk are seconds away from ambushing Hurricane's base from the west side. Right before he enters the base, his ally, Opium sends out a distress call and Apoc is forced to hold back and rescue his partner. Opium is being assaulted by a much larger army this time. Maverick and Hurricane have once again regrouped in the middle and combined to possess a force of 14 zerglings and 24 hydralisk. Opium has stationed his 9 zealots and an archon at his expansion, which is still in its infant stages. When the zerg army pushes southward at his expansion, Opium first retreats, but then realizes that he must hold his position in order to guard his new base. He makes a valiant effort to cut his way back through the zerg, but the defeat of his protoss empire seems unaviodable. But just as hope appears lost, Apoc's mutalisk squadron comes flying in to the rescue. They have an easy time destroying each an every one of the remaining invaders and despite losing his expansion, Opium should consider himself lucky. Impeccable teamwork.

impeccable teamwork

ouch.

The Tables Have Been Turned - 10:00

As a result of the heavy blow on Opium, Maverick and Hurricane have lost a lot of troops. In fact, the only player who has not been effected by the onslaught is Apoc. He still has a formidable mutalisk army which is growing rapidly, and a zergling army in the making. The victim (Opium) is seeking avengeance and is constructing two more gateways and rebuilding his army, which now includes high templars with storm. He is also reconstructing his expansion. Maverick and Hurricane both continue to mass hydralisks.

muta

micro

Apoc wastes no time getting his mutalisks pumped and ready to duel again. In the midst of saving Opium, he was also spawning mutalisk in anticipation for an assualt that would make up for the previously interrupted one. So Apoc orders the mutalisk at Opium's base to rendezvous with the mutalisk at his own base at the northwestern corner of the map. From there, they swung eastward straight into Hurricane's core. Although there were a couple of spore colonies and hydralisk, this quadrant of the base was relatively weak and the mutalisk had an easy time knocking up the harvesting drones. They microed over the cliff as they pleased, but eventually (and unexpectedly), the mutalisk flew off to the west after disrupting Hurricane's base. The pack flew southeasterly until they regrouped with Opium's newly formed army of zealots and high templars, along with several zerglings of Apoc's own at the middle. A new force had just been born.

The Final Blow

The army is finally operational, ready to embark upon the long and hard journey of domination. Apoc's mutalisks fly eastward and hover stationary just south Maverick's expansion. His zerglings, along with Opium's zealots and templars storm the front as the mutalisk raid the expansion. Opium's templars psi storm Maverick's hydralisk lurking atop the cliff entrance. This severely cripples Maverick's attack force, as it allows the zealots and zerglings to break into the inner base. The mutalisk have ahnialated the expansion and are now pressing north into the enemy establishment. Maverick's hydralisk are putting up fight however. Both Opium and Apoc send in infantry reinforcements to crush the ruthless hydras. Without sufficient defense from Hurricane, Maverick's base quickly crumbles and he pleads for observation status, which he is granted.

dust,

bitch

Now a 2vs1, Hurricane is becoming nervous, but determined to hold strong against his two adversaries. He burrows a dozen hydralisk just outside his entrance ramp and begins to spawn the beasts at his hatcheries along with many zerglings. In the mean time, Opium is also training infantry. Apoc's mutalisk army is now stationed just east of Hurricane's expansion and is evolving many into guardians as well.

As the assault commences, several groups of the (69) clan converge to Hurricane's base. Apoc has his flyer army going in from the east, a squad of a dozen zerglings coming from his base, a dozen zerglings coming from Maverick's base, and two dozen of em coming from the center. Opium has his infantry army coming from Maverick's base, and reinforcement infantry coming from his own base. Wow! Now isn't that a shitload of shit :) ? Anyway, Hurricane's domain is now a slugfest. He fairs rather well with the oncoming ground forces, but Apoc's flyer army really gives him trouble. The mutalisk infiltrate while the guardians hit from long range. The combination is lethal. Meanwhile, the ground forces have broken through Hurricane's infantry and are now moving up the entrance ramp. The game is over, and Hurricane knows it. He surrenders along with his ally and the (69) clan reigns victorious.

Game 2 Map: Lost Temple
Game two is also a 2v2 on Lost Temple. Apoc and another dude named Reiaynami are battling against Dpzinho and Anjinho, or as I like to call them, the hoes :P. Apoc is once again zerg at the 12 o'clock position, Rei is protoss at the 3 o'clock position, Anj is terran at the 6 o'clock position, and Dpz is protoss at the 9 o'clock position.

Game 2

Commence. Apoc scouts and uncovers Dpzinho's base. Dpz goes for the dual gateway strat as well as Rei. Anjinho and Apoc on the contrary, execute a more defensive form of gameplay. Anj begins construction on a wall blocking off the entrance ramp and Apoc starts erecting a hatchery at the entrance ramp. Soon, all players begin forming their infantry armies.

Player Build Order
Apoc(69) Hatchery(cliff), Pool, Extractor, Sunken Colonies(cliff), Den, Hatchery(east exp), Hatchery, Hatchery(southwest exp), Chamber, Chamber, Hatchery(Dpz exp), Lair, Spire, Nest, Hive, Gtr Spire
Reiayanami Gateway, Gateway, Assimulator, Core, Gateway, Nexus( rebuild), Robotics, Citadel, Temp Arch
Anjinho Barracks, Barracks, Refinery, Factory, Barracks, Academy, Bay, Comsat, Factory, Command Center(east exp), Barracks, Starport, Comsat(exp)
Dpzinho Gateway, Gateway, Assimulator, Core, Gateway, Citadel, Temp Arch, Gateway, Nexus(rebuild), Gateway, Forge, Gateway

First Strike - 3:00

With his small group of zealots, Dpz heads for Rei's base. He is greeted by several of Rei's zealots and they engage in battle. Dpz seems to have the upper hand, but Apoc spots his ally's predicament and sends in a decent sized group of zerglings in to assist Rei. Dpz soon finds himself sandwiched and his zealots fall as quickly as yo grandma out an airplane :P.

Apoc and Rei decide to counter attack Dpz with all available units and their armies set off to the west. They run into a few of Dpz's zealots that were left behind in the previous attack. At sight of the massive army, Dpz's zealots flee to their home base in preparation for defence. Dpz realizes that he is severely overmatched and trains several new zealots and high templars in attempt to even the odds a bit. He set up a probe wall at the entrance so that the attackers could only breach at single file pace. He stations zealots and templars at the wall for a last ditch try at survival. This strategy work surprisingly well for a while, but after a minute, the wall begins to crumble and the templars have run out of juice to cast psi storm. Apoc's zerglings and Rei's zealots infiltrate and begin messin' with the probes, but Dpz doesn't give up that easy. He continues to chug out zealots from his four gateways. The zealots eventually get the upper hand and the base is saved for now, yet he did lose nearly all his probes, costing him valuable resources.

Meanwhile, Anj has built up a formidable army of marines and tanks. Instead of helping out his dying ally, he heads straight for Rei's ungaurded base. Anj was met with almost no resistance at all at Rei's base. I mean, there might as well have been a big blinking sign saying, "PLEASE KICK MY ASS". But fortunately for Rei, noble Apoc had a good group of hydralisks waiting idle at his base. So he sent the beasts in to slow down Anj a little. Anj was able to fend off the hydras, however, he had lost all his tanks and was left with a small group of marines. Anj headed for the probes, but another wave of Apoc's minions were on the way, and he was only able to destroy no more than five probes before Apoc ripped his ass to shreds.

shit

these are n00bie ass games :/

As the players get a chance to rebuild their forces, things heat up again. Apoc and Rei group their armies in the center. When they are regrouped, they head southward towards Anj's base. The army is rudely greeted by several siege tank shells and a sturdy wall. Apoc and Rei decide to play it safe and retreat back to the middle.

Once again, Anj has found a loophole in his adversaries' scheme. Just before Apoc and Rei entered his territory, Anj took a sharp easterly direction and headed stealthily upward toward Rei's base. Stationed just outside of Rei's base, he gave Dpz the 'go ahead' and the two of them assaulted Rei's (once again) nearly defenseless base. This time, Anj had brought his hard hitting tanks with him and sieged without hesitance. Yet, the few zealots that Rei had were put to good use, as they shredded the tanks, possibly saving his base. He then evacuated most of his probes from the area, but used some to feebley attack the enemy. All they could do now was wait and see if their armies could reach the base in time. Anj's marines were still focusing on the main nexus, which was a burning frenzy now and just as the zerglings and zealots of Apoc and Rei reached the marines, the nexus had fallen. With vengeance, the marines were quickly slaughtered, but the damage had been done. With the loss of the primary nexus, Rei would have no income for a good three minutes. The damage had clearly been done.

rei's

nexus has fallen

The decision of Anj to attack Rei's base instead of defending Dpz was a brilliant choice. Although Dpz was severely crippled, Anj evened the score by crippling Rei ( both of them no longer possessed a nexus).

After Rei was attacked, he and Apoc set off to counter Dpz. Again, they send in all available units to Dpz's location. They encountered the same deal as last time - zealots and high templars. In this instance, Dpz manages to bang in more damage with psi storm, but still struggles to vanquish the attackers entirely. Dpz's time on this earth seems to be running short, as the last of his infantry are eliminated. Apoc and Rei begin to dispose of the enemy base.

But even with victory so close, Apoc and Rei should have learned their lesson by now about leaving their domain unguarded. At this very moment, Anj is marching up Rei's entrance ramp and straight into his inner base. Well, when Rei got the distress call from his base, he must've just been like "god damn it screw that guy" because he didn't budge his dragoons from Dpz's base. Apoc decided to help his lazy ass ally out and send a wave of hydralisk to fend off Anj's force. However, the attempt of ridding Rei's base of Anj was unsuccsessful. The hydralisk were easily dominated by Anj's tanks and stimpacked marines as the lisks congo-lined into the base. Rei had a few zealots and suicide probes available but they were also crushed with ease. Yet for Rei, the heart attack was over because for some odd reason, Anj retreated and seiged his troops outside Apoc's base.

uhh

..yea..orange sucks
OH

SHNAP! hahaha

Dpz's base is now completely destroyed, however he is not eliminated due to a hidden pylon and a runaway probe. Apoc sends another group of hydralisk down from his base, sneaking past Anj's not-so-good siege. He continues south until he runs into a squad of Anj's marine and tank combination, just outside the terran base. Anj sieges his tanks, but not in time. Apoc has already wasted the marines and has now targeted full firepower at the tanks. The hydralisk overtake the behemoths, but not without a price. Apoc only possesses three remaining hydralisk, so he burrows them around the area for an improved sense of surviellance.

k this

thing is takin too long

Apoc chooses to retaliate quickly and brings Rei along for the fun. From his observation array of the burrowed hydralisk, Apoc knows exactly where Anj is located. He brings a force of hydras from his base and Rei readies the group of goons he has stationed at Dpz's base. The two squads converge towards Anj, where he holds more marines and tanks just north of his territory.

As Apoc and Rei's troops close in on Anj, he sieges his tanks and stims his marines. The dragoons spot Dpz's last probe and get a shot off. The probe hastily retreats behind Anj's tanks and while the goons are distracted, they are blown to bits and quickly disintegrated. The hydralisk give the marines a harder time. Although the hydras did some considerable damage, they were still no match for the mighty siege tanks.

Second Chance, Anyone?

The game should have ended right there. If Rei had just killed that probe, then Dpz would have been down and out. But the probe starts warping a new nexus at the mineral expansion outside his ally's base. Anj protects his struggling ally by setting up a strong net of defense around the expansion consisting of siege tanks, bunkers, and a few turrets.

Meanwhile, Apoc was still massing hydralisk, but faster than ever before. With his four hatcheries, he pumps out two dozen hydras and burrows them outside Rei's base for defense. Both Anj and Apoc seemed to know that losing their ally meant losing the game.

Anj decides that he wants Rei eliminated once and for all and sends a group of four tanks and twelve marines north towards the target base. Halfway to the entrance and twenty-four hydralisk pop out of the ground. They ambush the terran force perfectly, attacking the troops in the middle then working their way outward. The tanks and marines stand no chance and Rei's base is saved once more.

aMbUsH !!

Apoc orders his hydras out through the middle. As he was doing so, two siege tank shells pummelled one of his beasts. He then commands the group (24 lisks) southward to investigate. Bad idea. Anj and his heavily fortified line of defense lay ahead. The line opens fire on the hydralisk, which fall left and right. Apoc realized that he has sent his troops into the meatgrinder and quickly pulls them out. The pain was still massive however; the hydralisk count was cut in half.

Meatgrinder

After the attack, Rei finally begins to form an army again, as zealots an goons pop out of his three gateways. Apoc executes a daring move and expands to the expo north of Dpz's former base. He continues to mass zerglings and hydras but soon constructs a spire and begins an air force. He was getting a little bored so he harrasses Anj a bit with his burrowed lisks :).

Anj pays little attention to the pesky hydras and rallies more and more troops to the center. He decides to take a chunk of his army and search the 9 o'clock base, so he marches Northeast then due east, but as he does so, one of Apoc's burrowed hydras detects the movement. He sends a large horde of lisks stationed in the middle westward to intercept the attack. Rei is also presently in the middle with a group of zealots and joins the party on the westside ^-^.

Just as Anj is about to attack Apoc's expansion, his force encountered the large wave of hydralisks and zealots. He sieged his tanks and stimmed his rines cuz he knew the fight was gonna be mean. And it was. The zealots charged the tanks as the hydras blasted the tanks. Anj's group didn't put up without a fight though. His tanks, once again, did massive damage, especially to the lisks. The zealots backed the allied beasts up and moved in for the kill. The tanks were too busy with the hydras to bother with the zealots. Rapidly, the tanks exploded and soon enough, the terrans had been stopped.

Intercepted......Bitch!

Calm Before The Storm

A wave of silence plagues the battlegrounds. Each player brewing up armies of strength, courage and power. Apoc hastily fixes up a group of hydralisk and mutalisk to add-on to his already formidable force. Eventually, he morphs all the mutalisk into guardians. Rei is sticking with infantry and has a large group of zealots and dragoons. The two allies combine in the middle and wait for the guardians to get the hell out of their cacoons.

When the guardians were ready, Apoc sends them in to crush that menacing line of defense Anj possessed. The strategy worked. He was resisting change and was still producing marines and tanks. Without sufficient anti-air, the guardians were free to completely anihalate the line. Once the defense was down, the entire ground army moved in. At this point, Dpz was defenseless and left the game, leaving Anj with what he feared the most; a 2v1. He attempts to knockout the guardians with a squad of wraiths, but the hydralisks and goons had them covered, and they fell outta the sky...faster than yo grandma out an airplane :P. The ground forces were closing in rapidly, blasting through Anj's expansion. With his expansion destroyed and ally-less, Anj no longer saw the point in going on and surrendered reluctantly. The (69) clan continue their path of domination and it was just because of their sexy name :). GG!
