"I guess this is the kind of stuff that most reporters generally gloss over in a single sentence, but I took a lot of screenshots of me blowing up random spaceships and I'm damned if I'm not going to use them."

Some people (YRM) asked me to do a report on a game that showed up in one of his comment sections. I finally agree to do so, mainly because I want one report of me beating Johnny (there is one report of Johnny giving me the biggest whalloping this side of West Virginia. Good report. By Mark4, check it out.) This is an old game, and I wasn't planning on it, but here goes...

I stroll into NoHunters, intent on getting a quick game or settling for ladder. Luckliy, Johnny_Vegas does more than simply roll his eyes, he accepts the challenge. Our only map requirement is "not Temple." Someone has an observer version of Rivalry, so we play that. Mark4 (who left in the middle of the game) and two other observers are also watching.

Johnny goes his usual Terran, and lands his forces in the northeast corner. I go random, which is my usual race, and warp in my Nexus in the southeast corner.

Knowing Protoss isn't my best race, I decide to go straight for the gouda. That's right, some offensive cannoning cheese. I set up a pylon at my choke, and got a forge there. My scouting probe found Johnny the first place it looked, northeast. My probe thought the base looked kind of busy, what with a marine, and scouting SCV's, so we forgot the gouda, and went for cheddar instead. At home I built a gateway, in Johnny's base I built an assimilator. Heh.

The building was actually doing the little warp graphic when I cancelled it for a refund. 75 talents, too. My one completed cannon at my choke just managed to finish a scout before it made it into my base. The second one warped in soon after. Noticing I was missing an assimilator in my OWN base, I started one up. At least I could be confident that Johnny wasn't ahead of me in gas. I decided to send a probe over to the southwest main, and started a nexus, and a pylon at the choke. At home, I built a cybercore, next to my gateway and two cannons.

Playing with probes in my Nexus was getting a little boring, so I ordered a companion zealot warped in from Shakuras. Nice to have another sentient around. The zealot was happy too, highest ranking warrior of mine on the field...

I started three cannons at my expansion's choke, and an assimilator. Soon I have both bases up and running.

Thinking of what to go for next, I decide the cheesiest thing I could do was go for a reaver drop. Especially because I knew Johnny already had two barracks, and I could expect M&M.

Ok, really, What'shisname the Zealot was really chatty and getting on my nervers. I ordered up a few companions for him, so they could play some [2]Pro_Bowl.scm

Back to some good robotic company. I managed to fit the robo facility and observatory AND support bay up by my choke. I also put another pylon there for safety, one near my main nexus, and one near my exp's nexus. Nice to feel that psi field near the main...

You'd be amazed how many times the game crystal can bounce off your nexus, resonating the whole shield. Damn Pro Bowlers. If I didn't know better, I'd think they were doing it on purpose. I ordered up some more robotic minions, a few observers. At my expansion I decided some backup cheese was in order, and started three stargates at the choke. When my reaver was finished, I loaded it and two zealots up, and sent them northward. Annoyed by the Pro Bowl game, I ordered up more zealots, these of the Military Police variety. At my expansion, I started a fleet beacon.

Johnny finally woke up, and dropped my main with infantry. I think it was two medics, five marines, and a firebat. My reaver was coming back for his second attack on the eastern expansion of Johnny's, again clearing out the SCV building the CC, and anything nearby. I ran it away to avoid wraith reprisals.

I don't look back until those incessant alarms get really loud, and I am forced to abandon my main nexus. On my way to my expansion nexus, I order my now seven zealots to go clean up. The MP zealots died, but the pro bowlers and half my probes lived. I counted myself ahead and built another nexus. Good riddance. Those bastards kept pointing out how I shouldn't have allowed a Pro Bowl game in a combat zone in the first palce. Since I was headed over to my expansion nexus, I ordered some cannons put up around it. I threw a few down at the main too. I had some more money, so I started some carriers, and the attack upgrade for air.

Once I was situated in my new command center, far from the obnoxious Pro Bowlers, I sent in my reaver team, which had avoided all wraith trouble so far, and went to drop Johnny's SCVs. Surprise, surprise, this late in the game, and Johnny has already got a tank by his CC. I say screw it, and drop the two zealots first to get shot at. I guess they died to some bunker. My faithful reaver also drops, and I make sure it kills several clumped SCVs in two shots before loading it back up in my shuttle. The shuttle gets chased down by a wraith, so I drop the reaver off, and run away with the shuttle. A little later I find my reaver is still alive, so I go shoot something a few times. I didn't really pay all that much attention.

My main is fine again, and I have plenty of cannons, so I order up a few zealots. My first two carriers are done, so I build some more, and remember to get the interceptor upgrade.

Suddenly, the pro bowlers are at it again, and my nexus's shields groan. Wait a minute, the zealots are at the other base. Stupid siege tanks. Johnny has dropped me, with two turbo newbie loads, and is tank pushing my expansion. Two cannons have already fallen. My observers also tell me that his eastern expansion is running, and a northern one is starting as well.

In a surge of rage I order my seven zealots to attack the eastern expansion. Soon I realize they will die, but do some damage. I let them go in, hoping Johnny will pull back to defend. Nope.

Dang. Not ready with carriers yet. Only have three, and only two have interceptors, those with four. Oh, upgrades done. Oh, another 2 carrier. I start more, and build more interceptors.

I wait for the sign to attack. In this case, it was not the Executor of my carrier fleet, who advised caution until we could be assured surprise carriers would devastate Johnny. No, it was the pounding of Terran shells on my nexus, and the horrible sight of eternal blue flame. I sent in my four carriers, with a total of !maybe! twenty interceptors. They managed to finish the two bunker, one turret push with the loss of only two interceptors. I ordered up some corsair for the inevitable wraith, and ordered my three remaining observers to follow my carriers. Adding another carrier to the fleet, I built interceptors en route to the eastern Terran enclave.

The observers, new corsair, and five fully-loaded carriers arrived at the same time. The corsair killed one or two wraith, their only battle the entire game, and the carriers razed everything else. I ordered more corsair. My fleet decided to hold off entering the terran main at the moment. This was a good decision, despite the revelations of the enemy commander after battle while under interrogation. Though a covert ops had just been completed and lockdown was being researched, it was better to attack Johnny's only expansion, which also had six barracks making marines or under construction.

The carriers razed everything, killing several marines. At home, I ordered more corsair. And because the carrier commanders wanted to out-rank someone, a few zealots as well. At Johnny's base, I saw ghosts, to my intense panic. Mircoing the battle, I ordered the carriers to attack the three ghosts I could see. Don't listen to the carrier commanders when they tell you I'm just bossy.

Three ghosts soon died, but not before locking down two carriers. The other three were rapidly loosing interceptors, under fire from a group of marines and two medics, a bunker, and a turret. I pulled the three carriers back from where they had pursued the last ghost, so only the marines were firing on interceptors. Buying more of the infernal fighters, I ordered the carriers to attack the marines one by one, since the medics were doing their jobs accurately. The carriers reached an equilibrium of about five or six interceptors a piece, as some were destroyed and some built. Eventually, the terran marines died, despite two bunkers reinforcing. My other two carriers finally shook off the lock down, in time to overwhelm the previously troublesome bunker and turret, despite one last desperate lockdown. At my stargates, three more carriers were on their way.

The terran commander congratulated me on a game well played, though continued to blame his loss on bad scouts. He was probably correct.

Lessons for the Executor:

-I like many kinds of fancy cheeses.

-If they're not expecting it, that's good.

-Games where the majority of your tech and pylons are at various chokes are wierd, and drops can be lethal, even little eight infantry dorps.

-Don't write a BR on an old game without pictures or anything really special soon after the blockbuster, and a new masterpiece by the best text writer himself, ~CattleBruiser~
